Tekstil ve Hazır Giyim

In Türkiye, the textile sector holds a significant place in the country's economy. Türkiye plays a crucial role in the production and processing of textile raw materials, particularly cotton, which is a vital source of income for the country's agricultural sector. Moreover, the textile sector integrates with various auxiliary industries such as dyes, chemicals, creating an extensive supply chain.

Its textile products are competitive in markets like the Middle East, Europe, and America. Among these markets, European Union (EU) countries stand out, accounting for a significant 67% share in Turkey's textile exports. Additionally, the Turkish textile sector provides employment opportunities to millions, both in cotton farming and textile workshops and factories.

Like the rest of the world, the textile sector in Türkiye is also characterised by complex supply chains, with multiple layers and irregular sub-contracting, resulting in a lack of transparency and traceability. Consequently, textile supply chains often involve serious human rights violations, unfair labour practices, and negative environmental impacts.

To ensure human rights compliance within the textile supply chains, Minerva conducts supply chain mapping and human rights and environmental impact and risk assessments, prioritising child protection, human rights practices, occupational health and safety, gender equality and environment.

Minerva provides tailored capacity-building trainings for various stakeholders in the supply chain, promoting active participation and a comprehensive approach to risk management. Additionally, Minerva collaborates with supply chain actors and non-governmental organisations to develop remedial and preventive measures to address identified risks.
