Project Overview

Training Programmes for Public Authorities and NGOs

Within the scope of the B+HR Project, several stakeholder meetings and trainings were organised for key public institutions and key human rights actors, such as trade unions and civil society organisations, in order to raise awareness on business and human rights and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and to support public institutions and civil society in the development or implementation of future National Action Plans and relevant policies.

The primary objective of these meetings was to assess the awareness level of business and human rights among civil society organisations, which play a crucial role in monitoring the compliance of businesses and public institutions with human rights. These organisations also serve as key actors in amplifying the needs of diverse social groups. Additionally, the meetings aimed to gauge the awareness level among public institutions, pivotal in ensuring businesses’ responsibility to respect human rights within the framework of the duty to protect human rights and in formulating policies on this matter. The goal was to pinpoint areas requiring attention and improvement.

The training programmes prepared in line with these areas of need aim to provide fundamental information on business and human rights, as well as capacity building on the preparation of a national action plan, which is one of the first steps in determining the responsibility of the business to respect human rights and is envisaged in the UN Guiding Principles.
