Project Overview

Empowering Recovery and Responsible Business Practices in Post-Disaster Landscapes

The B+HR Academy initiative under the B+HR Project, aims to deepen companies’ understanding of the human rights impacts of their activities and to help establish appropriate human rights due diligence (HRDD) processes.

The second series of training modules addresses the potential impact of the private sector on human rights in the post-disaster context and its critical role in recovery efforts, focusing on context-specific human rights risks, heightened HRDD and responsible business practices in the aftermath of disasters.

The modules additionally explore the intersection of human rights with recovery, reconstruction, and sustainable development in this critical phase. The training sessions, divided into public and private sector orientations, showcase exemplary practices that underline the significant contributions the private sector and public-private partnerships can make to the recovery processes following both natural and human-made disasters.

Public sector modules emphasise responsible procurement and recovery initiatives in the post-disaster context, while the private sector modules shed light on the human rights impacts on supply chains and the heightened HRDD required after disasters strike.

These modules are tailored to the Turkish context and meticulously crafted considering the repercussions of the earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria on February 6, 2023 particularly on supply chains. Narrated by Dr. Çiğdem Çımrın, co-founder of Minerva, the B+HR Academy’s training sessions serve as an accessible online platform for all interested parties, both within and beyond the project.
