rights,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">poverty<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and it was focused on human rights issues such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the right to protest,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">violations by security forces,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">child labor,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">modern slavery and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">health and safety<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221; bg_image_animation=&#8221;none&#8221;][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this context, it was determined that the human rights of citizens are at high or extreme risk <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 38 of the top 100 cities for foreign direct investment**.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the 38 cities in question, it was determined that the cities that pose the greatest risk in terms of human rights are Izmir and Istanbul in Turkey. In the research, the exploitation of the workforce of refugees and migrants and the deficiencies in labor rights were noted as important issues to be considered by companies with supply chains in Istanbul and Izmir.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With data on poverty included in the assessment, it was determined that the five most risky cities among the top 100 locations for foreign investment are <\/span><b>Hyderabad, Pune<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Mumbai<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India, <\/span><b>Lagos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Nigeria and<\/span><b> Izmir<\/b> <b>in Turkey.<\/b><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221; bg_image_animation=&#8221;none&#8221;][vc_column_text]\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was stated that these cities attracted a total of US$ 10 billion in global direct foreign investment in 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the other end of the scale, London, the world&#8217;s most attractive investment destination according to Foreign Direct Investment Markets data, ranks 544th among the lowest risk cities globally.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>In the overall ranking of 575 cities,<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">26 cities were classified as \u201cextreme\u2019\u2019 risk: <\/span><b>Mogadishu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the highest risk, followed by the <\/span><b>Damascus, Aleppo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> Homs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Syria, <\/span><b>Pyongyang<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in North Korea, <\/span><b>Sanaa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Yemen, <\/span><b>Ketta, Karach<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Lahore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Pakistan, and <\/span><b>Hyderabad <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in southern India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the research;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new legislations in the fields of <\/span><b>human rights, supply chain<\/b> <b>and sustainability of investments,<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the increasing importance given to<\/span><b> environmental, social and governance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> risks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">result in the scrutiny of the conduct of financial institutions in these fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was also stated that social risks will play an increasingly larger role in decision-making for investors in every sector, and that social risks and human rights violations related to the activities of investors or their suppliers can lead to loss of reputation and legal sanctions for investors.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221;
