In addition, internship and apprenticeship students in the manufacturing sector under the Vocational Education Law can be exposed to exploitation of child labour and fatal work accidents due to problems in the implementation of the legislation and inadequate measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the data of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health and Safety Labour Watch<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at least 631 children working in T\u00fcrkiye lost their lives between 2013 and 2023; 56% of these deaths occurred in agriculture, 22% in manufacturing and 22% in the service sector. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=&#8221;no-extra-padding&#8221; column_padding_tablet=&#8221;inherit&#8221; it is crucial for the business to:\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop <strong>policy commitments<\/strong> in accordance with international standards and ensuring applicability through regular monitoring activities,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct <strong>human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD)<\/strong>, covering their own activities and business relationships, and establishing a risk management system to address these risks i<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n light of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure <strong>meaningful stakeholder engagement<\/strong>, including involving relevant civil society <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">organizations<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in particular UNICEF,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Establish <strong>grievance mechanisms<\/strong> and effective remedies that are responsive to children\u2019s rights.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221;
