However, in conflict-affected areas, businesses face a higher risk of involvement in gross human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law. Managing these risks is challenging due to the complex operational environment where human rights cannot or will not be protected. It is therefore recognized that businesses operating in such high-risk areas need to conduct a \u2018heightened HRDD\u2019 that focuses not only on the potential and actual impacts on people and human rights, but also on the conflict-affected context.<\/span><\/p>\n
